A rollcall of inspiring ADHDers
Balancing out the negative vibes of last week with a whole heap of positivity
One of the nicest parts about getting ranty, tearful & angry last week was the amount of my fellow ADHDers who reached out, shared their experiences and checked I was OK.
We’re often told we’re an over-sharing, over-familiar bunch, but I bloody love that. I like that we cut the small talk and develop strong bonds quickly. Yes, I’ve been known to crash & burn a few relationships with people who find it a bit… much… but there have been many more friendships that have lasted the course and burn bright because of these things.
So, in celebration of all the wonderful ADHDers & the people who support people with ADHD, here’s a run down of some of the most awesome people I’ve connected with this year, thanks to talking more openly about ADHD.
1- Daley Jones, Met Police Detective
I’m not usually the kind of person to trust a copper (that’s a police officer to all you international readers), but christ-on-a-bike, Daley is a good’un. He’s worked tirelessly to set up the ADHD Alliance, for blue light workers who just happen to also have ADHD, then went on to develop a pilot for screening for ADHD upon arrest. It’s innovative, it’s effective & it’s going to make the world a better & safer place. Listen Here as he shares his story.
2 - Lenae Reeves, The Line-Dancing, Naturally-Caffeinated Notary
If ever there was a person that personifies ‘good vibes’, it’d be Lenae. I am so, so glad to have connected with her. It’s raining and cold it Italy, but listening back to this podcast episode is filling me with too.much.sunshine! Listen Here.
3 - Teia Guber, The ADHD Business Coach
Connecting with Teia has been a dream. This woman is funny, hard-working and after launching & selling 5 of her own businesses, is now in the business of helping others. Find her on Insta for hilarious reels (none of those negative ones I complained about last week) and reach out to her if you’re desperate to launch one of those million & one business ventures your ADHD mind has been plotting and planning.
4 - Dean Boland, Serviced Accommodation & Property Management Expert Extraordinaire
We may have known each other since school, but having reconnected after a VERY LONG hiatus, I’m ridiculously grateful to have this one back in my life. He might not have ADHD (I mean, he might, but that’s not the point), but he’s been such a huge supporter of me in my ADHD journey, cheerleading every podcast ep, every blog post & every interview I do on the subject. AND - he’s giving me plenty of much needed advice as I start to renovate my big, Italian, collapsing farmhouse. He posts a super inspiring business newsletter on LinkedIn, and I’m going to start sharing more of his advice on my renovating blog, too.
5 - Matt Saxon, the Personal Trainer you ALL need in your lives.
He helped me notice the patterns that led me to formal ADHD diagnosis, he’s the biggest cheerleader you’ll ever meet & he’s here to help everyone on their mind-body journey in a holistic, kind & empathetic way. His podcast episode is the most popular I’ve ever recorded, so give it a listen right here.
If that isn’t enough good vibes for you, I’ll be sharing over on Insta in the next few days a rundown of the 101 other people who’ve made this year one of the happiest & most fulfilled of my life. Follow along!
And I’d love to hear from you all about who has made your year better. Drop a comment, send a message or tag me in some of your favourite ADHDers and ADHD allies.
Ciao for now!
